Pet Store

We like to frequent the pet stores here. While we love Petsmart and support the way they help rescues and homeless pets we cant help but love going to some of the others to play with the puppies. I can't say I ever considered a boston terrier as a pet before but after spending some time with this one I think I love them!
Also Hattie is still asking for a salt water tank to put her some "Nemo Fish" in!

Child's Dress Form Tutorial

So I decided that I am going to start making my daughter more clothes (spice things up or whatever). I originally stumbled upon a tutorial a while back on how to make one out of duct tape (srry I don't remember the link). Then just recently someone from freecycle posted that they needed a dress form. I googled duct tape dress form and walla up popped so many different tutorials. I emailed the person back with a few and wished them luck.  I just recently bought the book Sewing Clothes Kids Love by Nancy Langdon and Sabine Pollehn. Wow what a nice book. I love the colors but I hear the clothes look good in neutral colors too. Any way, back to the point, It had a section on making a dress form with your child so I decided hey I have a two year old-wonder how long she would put up with me wrapping her in tape. Few days later I ran across some hot pink duct tape and it was decided!
1. First tell your child. I offered some sort of "incentive" (watching Dora and mention of a sucker after the process was complete).
2. Cut some holes in a trash bag (head and arm holes) and put it on your child like a dress. Bags are choking hazards..so don't choke your child please.
3. Go to town wrapping you child. Pay special attention to not get you child's hair! Also they do not seem to like it to tight so make sure to not wrap to tight. I repeat do not wrap to tight...they require air (and in a two year old's case wiggle room).

4. Carefully cut the tape off. I chose to cut down the shoulders and down the back but you can cut it off however you want. I used blunt scissors and used my hand underneath so as not to cut my daughter. It kinda freaked her out and she was saying "be careful mom no cut me!"
5. Tape a hanger in the neck hole and tape up the cuts. I used a store hanger so I can move the hanging part in different directions.

6. Tape up the arms, neck and bottom and fill with fluff, scraps, or anything you have on hand. Be careful not to make the arms stiff or you will have trouble putting clothes on your form.
Looks kinda lumpy but It works very well. It made Hattie happy that it was pink too. I wrote the date and her measurements on it with a sharpie as well as her natural waist line.End the end Hattie had a good time helping me tape, stuffing it and eating her sucker so I would call it a fun!
